Who is in charge of enforcing a child support order?

The child support offices in Idaho are a part of the Department of Health and Welfare and is known as the Idaho Child Support Services

Age of Emancipation

Idaho Statute 32-706. A duty of support is owed until the child's 18th birthday. If the child is still in school the order may continue until age 19 or graduation from high school which ever is sooner.

Statute of Limitations to enforce a child support order

Idaho Statute 5-245 requires enforcement actions must be initiated within 5 years from the child's 18th birthday to ensure enforcement will continue past the child's 23rd birthday.

Interest

The Idaho Code Annotated 28-22-104 provides for interest at the rate of 5% plus the base rate in effect at the time of the judgement. The base rate shall be determined on July 1 of each year by the Idaho state treasurer.
