Who is in charge of enforcing a child support order?

The Kansas Child Support Enforcement is a part of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services.

Age of Emancipation

Kansas Statute 60-1610 indicates emancipation takes place at age 18 unless the child turns 18 before high school graduation the support shall not terminate until June 30th of that year. Support may continue until the child's 19th birthday if they are still considered a full-time high school student.

Statute of Limitations to enforce a child support order

Kansas Statute 60-2403 If no action is taken within 5 years of emancipation the balance will be considered paid 2 years from that point.

Interest

Interest may be charged on judgments. The rate changes periodically depending on when the judgment was ordered. Refer to Kansas Statute 16-204 for additional information.
