Maine Child Support Information
If you live in the state of Maine or the Non-Custodial Parent lives in the state of Maine WE CANNOT HELP YOU
We regret to inform you that we are unable to work your case.
The state of Maine requires Private Child Support Enforcement Agencies to follow the guidelines of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), which limits the number of times a person can be contacted about their child support matters as well as who we can speak and what information is provided about the situation. The state of Maine has placed the value of enforcing a child support order no higher than that of trying to collect on a refrigerator bill.
Due to these requirements it becomes in effective for private enforcement agencies to work cases from this state. It is unfortunate that the state believes they know better than you how to enforce your child support order.
Only 40% of all Current Child Support was collected by the ME CSE
9% of a total of $465,720,520.00 of arrearages owed in Maine was collected by the ME CSE
THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES!
If you believe this is wrong and citizen's rights and opportunities should not be affected, write your state Senator or local Representative and request they review their policies.
