Rhode Island Child Support Information
If you live in the state of Rhode Island or the Non-Custodial Parent lives in the state of Rhode Island WE CANNOT HELP YOU
We regret to inform you that we are unable to work your case. The law of the land in Rhode Island can be referred to as the Deadbeat Protection Act and represents one of the most egregious state laws protecting deadbeat parents.
The state of Rhode Island requires Private Child Support Enforcement Agencies to follow the guidelines of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) (RI Title 19-14.9). The state of Rhode Island has placed the value of enforcing a child support order no higher than that of trying to collect on a refrigerator bill.
Due to these requirements it becomes in effective for private enforcement agencies to work cases from this state leaving your only options to try and enforce your child support order through the RI child support office or a private attorney.
THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND ESENTIALLY TOOK AWAY THE RIGHTS OF ITS CITIZENS TO USE OTHER OPTIONS IN ORDER TO ENFORCE A CHILD SUPPORT ORDER EFFECTIVELY.
Only 41% of all Current Child Support was collected by the RI CSE
8% of a total of $205,811,854.00 of arrearages owed in Rhode Island was collected by the RI CSE
THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES!
If you believe this is wrong and citizen's rights and opportunities should not be affected, write your state Senator or local Representative and request they review their policies.
