Who is in charge of enforcing a child support order?

The Wisconsin child support program is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Children & Families. The child support case management services are provided through county offices all throughout the state.

Age of Emancipation

According to the Wisconsin child support website, under Wisconsin law a parent's duty to provide support continues until the child's 18th birthday or at age 19 if the child is still enrolled in high school or its equivalency.

Statute of Limitations to enforce a child support order

Wisconsin Statute Annotated 893.415(2) An action to collect child or family support owed under a judgment or court order shall be commenced within 20 years after the youngest child for whom the support was ordered under the judgment or order reaches the age of 18 or, if the child is enrolled full-time in high school or its equivalent, reaches the age of 19.

Interest

Wisconsin law provides for 1% per month to be added to any past due amounts. The interest begins when the past-due amount is equal to or greater than the amount of support due in a month.
